April 12: Full Moon … check your Career Gua
April 27: New Moon … tap into your Wealth Gua
We begin April in the shadow of the March 29 new moon and solar eclipse in Aries, both of which signify new beginnings. Aries marks the start of each astrological year and each new moon marks the beginning of a new 28-day lunar cycle. Aries is the sign of the ram. People feel more enthusiastic, energetic, courageous, pioneering, and impulsive when the moon and/or sun are in Aries. Spontaneity plays a big part, and instinctively, we also desire to start new things in spring.
Eclipse cycles range from 30 days before until 30 days after the actual eclipse Lunar eclipse events can span three to six months, and up to a year or more for a solar eclipse. You could be affected by the March 14 and/or March 29 eclipses if you have a planet or sensitive point within 20-26 degrees Virgo 57 minutes or 6-12 degrees Aries zero minutes. If the eclipse impacts you, take extra care for the next month, particularly with physical activity.
Early April … Career Gua Focus
The new moon in Aries is aligned with the Career gua. This the is center-front of your home, every room in your home and your property. If you haven’t already done so, take some time to refresh the center-front area of your home as well as the center-front area of every room in your house, within the next few days. This will help you catch the wave of the new moon energy. Do some spring cleaning and eliminate clutter that might have crept in over the winter. Set an intention related to your opportunities, your passions, your work, job, or career. Focus on what you’d love to happen. Reinforce the good things that are already happening for you.
When the full moon emerges on April 12th, notice what’s happening, what’s coming to light, and what’s shifting for you. Things come to light to be noticed and to be healed. Let go of anything that surfaces that no longer meets your needs or expectations or doesn’t feel comfortable. This can relate to physical items (such as clutter), as well as emotional baggage, hurts and grudges, random thoughts that aren’t in alignment with your highest good, stressors and triggers, etc. Do an “interior cleaning out” for yourself. Doing so will help you to tap into the spring energy of renewal and growth.
Mid-Late April … Wealth Gua Focus
A few days after the full moon, switch your focus to your blessings in life. The April 27 new moon in Taurus aligns with your Wealth gua: the back left-corner of your home, every room in your home, your workspace and your land. From a broad perspective, money is only one aspect of wealth. When you acknowledge your blessings and give genuine thanks for them, more flows to you, including money. If your focus is on not having something (such as not enough money, or too many bills and expenses, etc.), you draw situations that lead to having even less. This is a distinction worth noting. Practice having at least three times as many thoughts, feelings, and experiences related to what you truly want vs. what you don’t want. This is how the Law of Attraction works. Whatever you focus on, you draw more of it to yourself. The tipping point is three to one.
The most important actions you can take to support your Wealth gua are to:
- Eliminate all blockages and anything that impedes a smooth flow of energy
- Fix everything that is in disrepair … including plumbing and electric
- Remove clutter … including paper piles or things that have been idling
- Clean, dust, and vacuum the area
- Check your artwork and pictures for subtle messages that might hinder abundance. Remove art and images that hold you in the past or do not represent what you desire in life.
Years ago, one of my clients had a broken clock hanging on the wall in her Wealth gua. The clock had been a wedding gift to her parents and she inherited it when they passed away. The clock had an image of pirates on the high seas. What are pirates known for? Stealing and looting. Not too long after receiving the clock, her brother cheated her out of her inheritance. The broken clock with the pirate image, hanging in her Wealth gua, magnified the situation. She had no idea about the power of such an image. She removed the clock (which was blocking wealth) had it fixed, and appraised. She ended up selling it for an amount that brought her more joy than the clock.
If attracting more abundance is your goal and you take any action to shift the chi in a positive way, you will begin to attract more abundance. Small steps can make a big difference.
It can be a challenge to analyze your own space. It’s common to glance over what you see every day and to miss what might be obvious to others. One way around this is to take photos of your spaces and study them. You are more likely to notice clutter or other situations in a photo than you are if you just look at your space. Give it a try!
Wealth Gua and the Five Elements
The Wealth Gua is strengthened by the Wood element. Thus, Water and Wood items enhance the energy of the Wealth gua. An excess of Fire, Earth and Metal energies weaken it. If your Wealth gua looks and feels great, chances are it’s in balance. If you don’t like the way it looks or feels, or lack of abundance and prosperity are issues for you, refresh and balance your Wealth gua before the April 27th new moon. Write down your wishes or intentions related to prosperity and abundance prior to April 27th and then do a new moon meditation on April 27th to sow the seeds of your desires. Your intentions will gain momentum over the following two weeks. Look for signs that your intentions have taken root at the May 12th full moon.
The feng shui color for the Wealth gua is purple. Additional supportive colors are green, gold, and red. A little bit goes a long way. Use colors that inspire you and bring in the feng shui colors in small amounts if they are not a part of your décor, in any area.
Healthwise, the Wealth gua is associated with your hips and legs. If you have hip trouble or if you will be having hip or knee replacement surgery, take a look at your Wealth gua.
The Wood element represents upward growth and is enhanced by Water. (Think of how you water plants and flowers to keep them fresh and help them to grow.) Thus, Wood and Water are helpful elements in the Prosperity gua. They are balanced by Fire, Earth, and Metal. Use these as accents. A little can go a long way.
Vivid spring shades of green, trees, plants and flowers, vertical stripes, and floral patterns are categorized as the Wood element in feng shui. To strengthen or enhance the Wood element, add items that carry Water energy. These include glass and mirrors, black and deep shades that appear to be black, wavy shapes, and all forms of water. Photos, art and sculpture play into this too … they carry elemental energy based on their form and what they represent.
DO include representation of Wood and Water items in your Wealth gua. Also make sure that the area is clean, tidy, and clutter-free for best results.
Wood energy is about vibrancy, growth, and expansion. It is represented by:
- Fresh flowers, plants, and trees
- Floral fabrics and patterns
- Vertical stripes and tall columns
- Green and blue
Water energy enhances flow and reflective, philosophical qualities. It is represented by:
- Water features and water itself
- Mirrors, windows, glass, reflective and shiny surfaces
- Black and very dark colors
- Free form, wavy and symmetrical shapes
- Pictures of lakes, rivers, harbors, ocean views
Balance your space using items with Fire, Earth and Metal energy. This can be a bit tricky and is often a judgment call. If your space feels good, it’s probably in good shape.
Fire brings dazzling, sparkling energy to a space. It is represented by:
- Fire, flames, lights, sunlight, candles
- Triangles, pyramids, diamond, and cone shapes
- People and animals, as well as pictures and sculptures of people and animals
- Electronics and electrical items
- Red, burgundy and the red palette
Earth energy grounds and anchors your space. Earth items include:
- Wooden furniture (because it’s harvested wood)
- Pottery, earthenware, bricks, and clay
- Seashells and natural items
- Square shapes
- Oversized or heavy furniture that hugs the floor
- Yellow, gold, brown and autumn/earth tones.
Metal energy helps bring clarity to a space. Metal items include:
- Physical metal: gold, silver, brass, aluminum, etc. (pots & pans, lamps, picture frames, art and sculptures)
- Marble, granite, flagstone
- Natural crystals, gems and rocks dug from deep within the earth
- Circles, oval and arch shapes
- White, gray, and pastel shades.
Eliminate Blockages in Your Wealth Gua
Blockages come in many forms and shapes. They interrupt the flow of chi or energy. A blockage could be a piece of furniture that physically blocks a space or is difficult to get around, a closet or drawer that is overfull, a plumbing or electrical problem, a door that doesn’t fully open, a pile of forgotten or discarded items, etc. Blockages vary and can be a challenge to realize, particularly if you have been living with them for a long time. After 30 days, your eyes glaze over your space and you no longer see the exceptions.
If you have art or photos of a stormy sea or that is dark and gloomy, you might want to swap them out for something more uplifting and inspiring. If your windows or mirrors are smudged or dirty, wash them. Doing so helps you to have clearer vision.
Over the years I have encountered multiple blockages that clients didn’t realize they had, because that was how they typically lived. One client had a “junk room” in the Wealth corner, others have had exit doors, bathrooms, sump pumps, broken windows, electrical problems, and more. The energy and quality of your space matters. Even if you are not in a position to fully correct detriments, you can always take some steps to minimize the impact of such situations.
After refreshing your Wealth gua, you can further enhance it with feng shui adjustments and cures. The suggestions below are guidelines. Use your imagination and place items that feel abundant or prosperous to you.
Eight Tips to Enhance Your Wealth Gua
- Add a healthy green plant of fresh flowers
- Hang a beautiful mirror to amplify your intentions
- Hang a crystal to cure a sharp edge or attract abundant energy.
- Place a beautiful water feature to circulate the chi.
- Hang a photo of moving water, such as a river or waterfall, flowing toward you.

- Include some green, purple, red or gold. A little goes a long way.
Set Your Intentions with the April 27th New Moon
Do a meditation on April 27th to set your intentions related to your prosperity and the blessings in your life. New moons are the best times to set your intentions. You plant the seeds or your ideas, then allow them to take root for the next few weeks as the moon grows in intensity and light each night.
See your wishes taking root beneath the surface. Seeds take time to develop and grow. Honor the gestation time and trust the process. Two weeks later, check how they are coming along as the light of the May 12th full moon lights the sky.
Your intentions could relate to:
- An abundance of blessings coming your way.
- The arrival of unexpected money or income.
- An offer for a well-paying job, following the late March/early April Career gua focus.
- Easy solutions to hip or knee conditions.
- More ease and flow in your life.
- More than enough resources.
- Overall good fortune.
